ROVs used in Black Sea Expedition

A group of archaeologists discovered an intact Byzantine shipwreck at the bottom of the Dead Sea. The composition of the water in the Dead sea preserved the ship as well as the jars found around it. The archaeologists found the shipwreck long before they could excavate it as they needed new technology to allow them to recover artefacts from the bottom of the sea. This is where the ROVs (Remote Operated Vehicles) were useful . Check it out here.

  1. Great bolg. I’m impressed. You never lived in Bulgaria and you learned so much in only one 20 days! Congrat’s! Proud of you! 🙂

    • Thanks, the information in this article I learned through Discovery news though 🙂 but the blog post on Bulgarian archaeology combines knowledge gained during my trip as well as through some research.
